This is my favourite time of year when we proudly showcase the depth of talent and passion coming from our agricultural, fishing, and culinary sectors. We bat well above our average in terms of the quality of our produce and appreciation for cuisine, Moreton Bay has well and truly come of age and it’s time we made the nation pay attention to that.
Our subtropical climate offers a bounty of products from pineapples and raspberries to shellfish and wagyu products, and we have chefs daring enough to try truly exciting things. Best of all Moreton Bay is just minutes away from Brisbane, so get in your car to discover our amazing food trails and pioneering tastemakers.
And I implore locals to go discover a new corner of our region, the variety of products and hospitality stylings on offer from the cafes of Samford and hidden restaurants around Mount Mee to the iconic venues around Bribie and Redcliffe - there really is no better place to be.
Moreton Bay Regional Council is proud to partner with Moreton Bay Region Industry & Tourism (MBRIT) to deliver the biggest and tastiest celebration of foodie events and local produce the region (and arguably SEQ) has ever seen.
Tastes of Moreton Bay Feastival and Moreton Bay Food + Wine Festival are part of Council’s commitment to the Regional Economic Development Strategy (REDS) which includes the focus on two of the four priority industries including food and agribusiness
as well as tourism and major events.
Mayor Peter Flannery
Moreton Bay Regional Council
Moreton Bay has a proud agrarian past, present, and future. To be afforded the opportunity to share the story of our farmers, fishers, growers, producers, brewers, distillers, and winemakers as the inaugural Tastes of Moreton Bay Feastival Ambassador is something for which I am immensely proud.
I have been a proud local for 10 years and have infused the food I cook with a proud panoply of producers from across Moreton Bay – Cederton and Woodford in the North, Bribie Island and the Redcliffe Peninsula in the east, and the myriad of farmers of the south and along the edge of the D’Aguilar Ranges. The immutable connection between food & tourism is at the heart of a bigger, bolder & brighter Moreton Bay with the Moreton Bay Feastival the jewel in the crown.
In Moreton Bay, we can enjoy food with a clear sense of provenance. We can know the person who has pulled our vegetables from the earth, fished for our prawns, or brewed the beer we enjoy. That is a privilege for which we should all be rightly thankful. This narrative of seasonality, origin, and connection to the community is burgeoning and something I am very passionate about.
I can’t wait to see you all at this year’s events, tours, and unique dining experiences, as we feast our way around Moreton Bay!
Be sure to get your tickets early before they sell out.
